How To Do An Ombre Lip | Makeup Tutorials

The ombre lip trend is still pretty popular, and you don’t have to be a makeup guru to do this. It’s actually easier than you might think, all you need are two complementary lipsticks and a lip pencil!

Follow the steps below to try out this cool style!

How To Do An Ombre Lip

Step 1.

Moisturize the lip – apply petroleum jelly or lip balm.

Step 2.

Apply a light medium face powder all over the lip to cancel any redness or pigments.

Step 3.

Outline the lips with a lip liner (of your choice). Take your time and keep the lines as even as possible.

Step 4.

Press your lips together and blend the lip liner – just keep on shading.

Step 5.

Apply a matte lip cream on the areas without a shade and then press the lips together (lightly). Then re-apply the matte lip cream to create a blend of two shades.

Step 6.

Outline the lips again to correct any uneven areas when the lip cream was applied. And dab the middle of lips to blend the two shades.

Step 7.

(Optional) Outline the sides with concealer to clean the area.

DIY Movie-Inspired Makeup Looks for Halloween

Halloween is one of those times that a lot of makeup artists look forward to because of the many creative Halloween looks they can create. From ghosts and goblins to sweet and cute cartoon characters. However, I decided that in this feature, I will focus on DIY movie-inspired makeup tutorials from some of the most talented Makeup vloggers on Youtube and Instagram. I have to admit, I am in awe at how detailed and tedious the process is in a lot of these makeup transformation videos, and I just can’t help but feel lucky that they all have the time and dedication to show us their beautiful work.

So before you decide on which Halloween costume to wear, check out these scary alternatives.

Ditch those cute, sexy looks for these crazy, DIY movie-inspired makeup on fright night and scare the wits out of your friends and family.

I know that after this post is through, you will be the most frightening creature that will grace this year’s Halloween party. It’s safe to say, the Queen of The Damned Award is in the bag!

1. Billy the Puppet (Saw)

Billy the Puppet is a character from the movie Saw. Billy played a crucial role in the film, while John Kramer used him to communicate with the test subjects. This is why every time the test subjects see Billy, they know something bad is about to happen, and honestly, even if they don’t, just the look of Billy will scare the lights out of anyone.

2. Witch (Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters)

On a modern take on the classic tale of Hansel and Gretel, Witch Hunters was a story about Hansel and Gretel as bounty hunters. If you haven’t seen it yet, they hunted down witches. But mind you, these witches do not look anywhere near the witches in The Craft movie. Well, if I remember correctly, these fairytale stories have always had scary-looking hags for witches, but this DIY movie-inspired makeup look shows you how to be a scary demon witch.

3. The Exorcist

If there is one movie that will really scare the bejesus out of anyone, that’s The Exorcist. Seriously, I don’t even know how some people can watch The Exorcist because I tried, and I just can’t watch the whole movie through. Even this still image above would haunt me for weeks! But, it’ll get a lot of reactions this Halloween, for sure!

4. Emily (The Corpse Bride)

The Exorcist look was a bit tough to deal with, so let’s take it down a notch with Emily from The Corpse Bride. She is an undead bride who claims that she is the supposed-to-be wife of Victor Van Dort. The look is creepy, but in a cartoonish sort of way, which means I don’t have to deal with any life-like demon-possessed creature to get me that Halloween costume award this year.

5. Annabelle (The Conjuring)

Annabelle is a doll from The Conjuring movie that was inhabited by an evil spirit. I don’t know why other people who’ve watched the film find it hilarious that Annabelle turned into an evil doll, but for some, they would never look at dolls the same way again. If you want that same kind of reaction on Halloween, turn into Annabelle.

6. Clown (The Poltergeist)

The Poltergeist from 1982 had a remake recently, and no thanks to better special effects, now the clown in the movie has become scarier and creepier to the delight of horror movie fans. Personally, the thought of clowns creeps me out and I think for Halloween it might just be my best gamble.

7. Harley Quinn (Suicide Squad)

Harley Quinn may look cute and badass for a lot of people, but she made this list because she’s actually a really creepy person. Harley is Joker’s lover, which already tells you why she’s a scary person to deal with. Thanks to the Suicide Squad movie, Harley Quinn became a favorite character to copy. Expect a lot of Harley Quinns on the street this Halloween!

8. God Mask (The Purge: Anarchy)

The Purge: Anarchy (2014) is a sequel to the 2013 movie, but the concept is pretty much the same. Once a year, the government allows anyone and everyone to commit a crime within a 12-hour period. No arrests will be made at all. While the movie concept itself is already creeping me out, the mask of the main antagonist will scare the hell out of you even more. Want to do this look? 9. Fornicus (Cabin In The Woods)

I must admit, I’m not a fan of horror movies, but I watched Cabin In The Woods (because Chris Hemsworth was there). I must say, there were several scary creatures in both the cabin and the woods, and they make for really great Halloween looks like our friend here, Fornicus.

10. Tiffany (Bride of Chucky)

If you think Anabelle is the creepiest doll in movie history, then you’ve never seen the Chucky films. The soul of a serial killer entered the supposedly friendly Chucky doll and went on to cause havoc among families. It only got worse when he was joined by his girlfriend, Tiffanny. Tiffany’s smile alone causes nightmares! It’s relatively simple to recreate, just bring a prop knife with you instead of the real thing.

11. Pennywise (It)

Stephen King definitely knows what he was doing when he wrote It. People who watched the 1990 series and the 2017 movie version have become fascinated with the bloodthirsty clown Pennywise. Wasn’t Bill Skarsgard the perfect actor to bring the ancient evil clown to life? Recreate that look this Halloween!

12. Other Mother (Coraline)

Neil Gaiman writes some of the weirdest stories out there, and Coraline isn’t an exception. The 2009 animated adaptation portrayed Coraline’s Other Mother perfectly with the button eyes and creepy smile. You may have to look for the biggest buttons you can find but the look is worth it!

13. Valak (The Conjuring)

After being traumatized by Anabelle, The Conjuring 2: Valak delivered yet another iconic horror film villain in Valak. The demonic nun’s overall look is easy to remake. If you’re looking for an easy but creepy look this Halloween, you should try this DIY movie-inspired makeup look.

14. Enchantress (Suicide Squad)

Enchantress was the baddie in a movie about baddies. That alone makes her worthy to be a part of this list. In Suicide Squad, the ancient cursed witch takes over Cara Delevigne’s body when summoned but she eventually possessed her. If you have long black hair or a wig, you won’t have a hard time turning into Enchantress.

15. Edward Scissorhands

Johnny Depp breathes life into every character he portrays. He was beloved as Jack Sparrow in the “Pirates of the Caribbean” series, as well as in other roles he took on. However, there’s one character that established his penchant for the macabre early on in his career: Edward Scissorhands. With scissors as hands, his portrayal of the weird outcast made him another favorite character to turn into during Halloween!

How’s your Halloween? It was incredibly fun for me. In the afternoon, I helped my kids prepare for their annual trick or treat. In the evening, I joined my friends for an intimate but fun dinner where I got to dress up as one of the Spice Girls (Baby Spice all the way!). The next day, well, I just decided to stay home, relax, and enjoy a cup of hot tea and my favorite grilled cheese sandwich. And because I am relaxed, calm, and not busy, I’ve got enough time to look around and find these amazing Snapchat filter tutorials.

11 Snapchat Filter Makeup How-Tos You Can Have Fun With!

I am not a huge fan of Snapchat, to be honest. I’m more of an Instagram kind of girl. However, I have to say I super love their filters. Aren’t they fun? My kids and I love to mess with them. I like them so much I’ve got not just one but two personal tutorials, which I included in this list. So . . . without further ado, I’m giving you these:

1. Lips On Eyes Filter

This isn’t exactly cute – it’s a bit gross and scary actually – but it’s super fun! It’s a way to nicely troll friends and family and take your makeup and look creativity to a whole new level. It’s very easy to do too. In fact, you can do this in less than 20 minutes! Want to see how this is done? See this tutorial.

2. Rainbow Filter

This is one of the Snapchat filter tutorials I did with a friend, and we have an awesome time doing it. Personally, I love the rainbow filter. It’s one of my favorites. This takes some time and a more comprehensive makeup arsenal. Doing the rainbow itself can be tricky as well, but making yourself a true-blue copycat of the filter makes it worth your time and effort. Head here to see the tutorial.

3. Butterfly Babe Filter

Enough with the floral crown! Let’s make those golden butterflies into a reality! More than the butterflies, I adore the makeup. It’s one of the amazing everyday looks you can copy, but for the sake of broadening your imagination, why don’t you make your lips sparkle too? For a complete tutorial, watch this video.

4. Blue Butterfly Filter

Don’t like gold? Then try some blue butterflies! A lot of the time will be spent on the eyes, but once you get past that, the rest of the tutorial is going to be real easy. Here’s a nice tutorial you can follow. By the way, what are butterflies without flowers? Grow them on your nails with this gorgeous nail art!

5. Lion Filter

I’ve given you my personal Snapchat filter tutorial #1. Now this is my #2: lion filter! Let me tell you, this is one of the easiest makeup tutorials I’ve made. No kidding. When I say you can do this in 20 minutes or less, I truly mean it. What’s more, you need only three types of makeup and some creativity to get your mane up. Want to know how I did this look? 6. Comic Book Filter

Others call this pop art, but whether you prefer this to be comic book or pop art, the look is basically the same. I’ve checked out quite a number of tutorials out there, and this by far is the quickest and most ideal for beginners. Plus you got a perfect excuse to use your Urban Decay Flushed makeup! 7. Lace Mask Filter

Let’s pretend we are in a masquerade ball with this lace mask tutorial. Coming up with those lines can be particularly challenging, especially since both sides of the face should look alike. As a tip, create traces before you make these lines more visible or prominent.

8. Strawberry Filter

Nope, you won’t be transforming your entire face into a strawberry! Rather, this is a classy take on a super-lovable Snapchat filter. The hardest part? The details, but hey, no pain, no gain. I know for sure you’re going to appreciate your look right after. See the entire tutorial here.

9. Cute Dog Filter

I have yet to find a friend who hasn’t used the cute dog filter, so I can’t leave this one out. The tutorial is pretty complex, but it’s complete, with patterns included!

10. Deer Filter
