Pretty In Pink Prom Makeup Tutorial | Makeup Tutorials https://makeuptutorials.com/prom-makeup-tutorial-natural-look/ https://makeuptutorials.com/prom-makeup-tutorial-natural-look/#respond Sat, 11 Jan 2025 00:00:08 +0000 https://makeuptutorials.com/?p=22439 Prom season is just around the corner and there’s no doubt in the world every girl is looking for an easy pretty in pink prom makeup tutorial or makeup ideas to do at home. When it comes to prom makeup or makeup tips, you do not need to go all glam: keep it natural but with a hint of subtle hotness and you will be the talk of the town! We curated two of the best prom makeup ideas you can do at home for this memorable night!

Prom Makeup Tutorial for A Natural Yet Sexy Look

Prom Makeup Tutorial by Patrick Starr

If you want a more dramatic, fierce, and sexier look, then this prom makeup tutorial is more of your fancy. We love how it’s not over-the-top but it’s not too low-key as well. If this is the look you’ll go for your prom night, keep reading easy makeup guide by famous beauty vlogger and makeup artist Patrick Starr. Here are what you need to get this look:

Step 1: Apply mist on a fresh, clean face

|

Before anything else, make sure you have cleansed your face. If you do not have time, use cleansing wipes and toner. Once you are done, apply a fast-acting moisturizing mask for a few minutes. Then, wake your skin up with a misting spray before starting.

Step 2: Apply primer

|

For an even surface of the foundation, apply a primer on your face. You can also just apply primer on key areas like the nose and cheeks. A good primer can fill in large pores for a smooth surface and mattifies the face, keeping the dreaded oil at bay.

Step 3: Apply foundation

|

Foundation is your base makeup, so it is important you apply this well. Before applying your foundation, warm the foundation by putting some product in your hand and mix it with your foundation brush. You can even add a few drops of serum for extra skin nourishment.

Step 4: Conceal the under eyes

|

Make sure to choose the right concealer for the job. The wrong color might not conceal anything at all, or worse, make your makeup uneven. Start by applying concealer on your dark undereye circles, blemishes or red patches using a concealer brush. Use a sponge later blend out the concealer with the rest of your base makeup.

Step 5: Use setting powder to set your base makeup

|

Prom is going to be a very long night, so you want to make sure your base makeup at least stays put. Set the foundation and concealer with setting powder for maximum lasting power. You want to wait for a few minutes to “bake” everything before continuing with your makeup.

Step 6: Hide those red eyes or eyelids

|

If you don’t have red eyes, you can skip this step. If you do, put eye primer first on your lids. Then, mix one portion of eye primer with concealer and apply the mixture on the eyelids. Set your eye base makeup with a pressed powder.

Step 7: Apply bronzer

|

Got a double chin? Have a too-wide forehead? For a well-defined face, use bronzer to do a bit of contouring. Do take note of your face shape first before you contour your face.

Step 8: Apply and set eyeshadow

|

There are two things to remember here: warm eyeshadow colors and setting. If you decide on a bolder eyeshadow color, do test them in advance to know if it fits well with your makeup color scheme. When applying eyeshadow, put the product on the lids and crease. Make sure to blend smoothly with an eyeshadow brush.

Step 9: Apply a winged eyeliner

|

A winged eyeliner is a perfect eyeliner style if you are planning to add some fake lashes. It can also help elevate drama. Make sure to practice applying a winged eyeliner first on a well-lit mirror.

Step 10: Curl the lashes

|

As Patrick would say, curl the lashes up to Jesus! Even if you are applying fake eyelashes, curling them would make your eyes pop out more. For easy curling, heat your eyelash curler using a blower in the lowest heat setting possible for 5 to 10 seconds. Curl away from the face to avoid getting burned or getting your skin pressed.

Step 11: Wear false eyelashes

|

If you do not wish to wear full lashes, you can cut them in two and apply them near the end. This will give you a more natural cate eye look. Use a cotton applicator to apply lash glue and to guide your lash placement.

Step 12: Apply bronzer on the lower lash line

|

The bronzer will make your eyes sultry. Start at the outer corners and then carefully rim the lower lash line using an eyeshadow brush. Don’t go all the way to the inner corners.

Step 13: Set with finishing powder

|

It is a must to always set your makeup with a finishing powder. This will help your makeup last longer and of course, get you ready for any photo op! Tap any excess powder first before applying.

Step 14: Apply blush on the apples of your cheeks

|

Pick a golden, rosy blush for this look. Apply on the apples of the cheek using a circle, wispy motions. Start applying lightly to avoid going overboard with the blusher. You can always build the color with more blusher.

Step 15: Define the nose

|

Using a bronzer, contour the nose with a fan brush. Start from the area between the inner corner of your eyes to the bridge of your nose, then sweep the contour product down to the tip. Avoid getting heavy on the product, so apply using feather-like strokes.

Step 16: Highlight areas of your face

|

A highlighter is like your very own focus light. After contouring, highlight the cupid’s bow, chin, nose, inner corner of the eyes, forehead, and cheekbones. The highlighted areas will make your face glowing.

Step 17: Define the brows

|

Never forget to define and fill in your brows. You can use a brow pencil, dip brow, or brow powder to do this. You can also apply a brow mascara to tame the brow hairs.

Step 18: Line and color your lips

|

For a full lip, line the lips with a nude lip liner. If you are using a dramatic lip color, you can use a lip liner closest to that shade. Color in with the lipstick of your choice.

Natural Prom Makeup Tutorial by Lauren Curtis

This natural prom makeup tutorial by beauty vlogger Lauren Curtis is all about keeping it natural and accentuating your beauty. It’s simple, sophisticated, and very pretty! Here are what you need to achieve this look:

Step 1: Apply primer

|

If you have pores which are very obvious, you may want to start with a primer or pore filler. This will help with a more even application with your foundation. You can also apply primer only to problematic areas on your face.

Step 2: Apply foundation evenly

|

Apply foundation to make the face smooth all over and to even out your complexion. How much coverage will you need? It will depend on your skin but it will be best to wear a lightweight foundation to feel more comfortable the entire night.

Step 3: Apply concealer  to cover problematic spots

|

Sometimes you need more than a primer to cover imperfections. Apply concealer under the eyes to hide dark circles. You can also apply concealer on any red spot on your face if need be.

Step 4: Apply pressed powder to set your base makeup

|

If you do not have pressed powder, you can use a setting powder. Apply pressed powder on your face in a pressing motion. This will make the makeup last a whole lot longer.

Step 5: Contour with bronzer

|

While contouring is an option, you should definitely consider this as this will define your face better. It’s great for formal events like prom as it will bring out your cheekbones and make you picture perfect at any angle!

Step 6: Apply blush

|

After the bronzer, apply a pink blush for a flushed cheeks look. Apply to the apples of the cheek and cheekbones. Make sure the blusher color suits well with the overall makeup color scheme of your prom makeup.

Step 7: Contour blushed-on cheeks with bronzer

|

If you have a round or oval face, this tip will be a godsend to you. Apply bronzer on the apples of the cheeks as well as on the crease for some definition. Make sure the contour line blends well with the blush line to make the definition more natural.

Step 8: Fill in the brows with brow powder

|

For the eyebrows, it’s best to stick to its natural shape (at least for your prom makeup). Fill in your brows with an eyebrow powder for a fuller look. If you don’t have eyebrow powder, you can use an eyebrow pencil. Apply using the eyebrow pencil in feather strokes to mimic natural hairs, then brush it with a spooler to blend the color well.

Step 9: Apply primer before eyeshadow

|

Before applying eyeshadow, apply an eye primer or eyeshadow base first. An eye primer or eyebrow base will help keep your eye makeup stay longer. Once it dries, apply light pink eyeshadow (or other light colors to match your dress) on the eyes and blend with a brush. Apply bronzer on the bottom lash line and on the crease of the eyes to achieve a subtle smokey eye look.

Step 10: Line the eyes.

|

Apply black eyeliner on the lash line. You need not be too careful with this one though since you will do some smudging later on. If you do need to correct it, wet a cotton bud with water to erase the mistake.

Step 11: Apply mascara generously

|

Apply black mascara on both your upper and lower lashes. Make sure to coat every strand of hair. It’s also best to go with a waterproof and volumizing mascara.

Step 12: Wear false eyelashes

|

Put on your favorite faux eyelashes for a more dramatic effect. You can place it just above your natural lash line. Use tweezers to carefully place your faux lashes correctly.

Step 13: Line the lips.

|

A lip liner prevents your lipstick from smudging. Apply lip liner and lip cream as the base of your lips. Start drawing an X on the top of your lips for a cupid bow effect, then trace along the natural lines of your lips.

Step 14: Apply lip color and gloss

|

Last but not least, complete the look with your pretty pink lipstick. Top it off with lip gloss for a plump and fuller lip effect.

Know the type of your face shape that will help you a lot in picking out the right neckline that suit you well. V-necks will be good for oval faces, Sabrina necklines work best with triangle face shape and this is very common too. With square shaped face, scoop necklines would be the one.

Nicole Guerriero is sharing her most prized tips and tricks on how to do full-face makeup. When we say full-face, this means its makeup that you wear for events where lots of pictures will be taken. 8. Acne Coverage Foundation Routine Tutorial

Are you dealing with the unsightly scars and indentations acne can bring? Girl, you are not alone. You, among others, battle their way through acne, uneven skin tone, skin pigmentation, redness, acne scars, the list goes on and on. Stephanie Lange, Youtube makeup artist, also battles the same issues, so to help others she posted a video detailing her daily acne coverage foundation routine. If you have acne, do not despair! There is hope.

9. Summer Night Out Makeup Looks

Feisty AndreasChoice from YouTube is sharing two of her favorite summer night out makeup looks. Most of the makeup routine is pretty much the same for both looks, except that the lip colors change from one look to another. In the first look, Andrea sports hot pink lips. In the second look, she goes tamer with peachy nude lips. The change in lip color instantly changes the entire look so do make sure that you’re picking the right one for your summer night out.

10. Contouring & Highlighting – AKA The Kim Kardashian

Contouring and highlighting have become must-do processes in a daily makeup routine. Kim Kardashian wears heavily contoured makeup every time she steps out into the public eye. As a regular citizen, heavy contouring isn’t necessarily the way to do your makeup everyday. I  mean, imagine coming to the office caked in layers of makeup? Leave the contouring for weekends or special occasions. GlamboothTV has racked up over 22 million views for this tutorial, so you know it’s useful. Learn a thing or two about contouring and highlighting by watching the video below!

We hope these Youtube makeup tutorials inspired you to try new looks or taught you a little something about existing ones.

Best Hair & Makeup Looks from the Cannes Film Festival 2016 https://makeuptutorials.com/makeup-cannes-film-festival-2016/ https://makeuptutorials.com/makeup-cannes-film-festival-2016/#respond Fri, 09 Aug 2024 16:35:14 +0000 https://makeuptutorials.com/?p=30500 The Cannes Film Festival is all about glamour and this year, there was no shortage of glamour. With beauty looks that ranged from the most natural (#nomakeup) to bold smokey eyes, celebs put their best face and hair forward. Catch the best looks of the year’s most glamorous event here.

Best Hair & Makeup Looks from the Cannes Film Festival 2016

Ah, Cannes… It’s the ultimate party of the year with a week of photo-calls, dinners, screenings, and parties taking place on the Mediterranean coast of one of the world’s most beautiful countries, France. Cannes has not only become synonymous for great cinema, it’s become known as the event to catch a glimpse of celebrities at their best-dressed.

This year was no different. As hoards of celebrities flocked to the breezy coast, thousands of paparazzi followed them to snap photos of their couture dresses and tuxedos, and, expertly-crafted hair and makeup. And, because we love fangirl-ing over new beauty trends, we just had to round up stand-out looks for our readers.

Below are looks that transcended the boundaries of red carpet makeup, took on a life of their own, or accentuated the personality of the celeb who wore them. These are looks we’d love to try, but even more importantly, love looking at.

Enjoy!

1. Blake Lively

Blake Lively’s look screams spring with healthy, bronze skin and flushed pink lips. Feeling as if we haven’t seen her on the red carpet since forever, it’s refreshing to know Mrs. Reynolds style game is as on point as ever.

2. Soko

|

We loved Soko’s Victorian era-inspired look. The minimal base with taupe makeup works well on her fair skin and dark bob. Overall, it was a beautiful look for Cannes.

3. Susan Sarandon

After all of these years, Susan Sarandon has still got it. While this icon always dazzles on the red carpet, we had to put her on this list for those stylin’ glasses alone. We’re not sure what the backstory is on them or whether Miss Sarandon was trying to hide blue eyeshadow, but whatever the reason, we are digging it.

4. Caitriona Balfe

Don’t underestimate the power of a pink lip, ladies. Caitriona proved that theory as fact with her minimalist look whose primary feature was a bold pink lip. What we also love about Caitriona’s look is her side-swept French braid. This is definitely the look to recreate for spring.

5. Kirsten Dunst

I’m a huge Kirsten Dunst fan. And I’m not a fan because of her style or beauty choices (which are always on point and uniquely Kirsten), I’m a fan of her acting. I loved her in Virgin Suicides and Melancholia and god, I just wish she was in more! Anyway, I digress… Kirsten Dunst killed it at this year’s festival with a retro yellow dress and classic red lip. This goes to show that red and yellow are always a good color combination.

6. Kristen Stewart

|

Going platinum-blonde was one of the best stylistic choices Kristen Stewart has ever made. The bold on-trend color accentuates her individual style and attitude. At this year’s film fest, Kristen rocked a classic grunge duo: platinum-blonde hair and kohl smokey eyes. The look is very Saint Laurent and we love it.

7. Jessica Chastain

Whoa, Jessica Chastain was channeling some serious Jessica Rabbit vibes with her Old Hollywood waves and vibrant red lip. We love the contrast between her red lip and blue dress — it’s a stunning combination on her skin tone.

8. Melanie Thierry

Melanie Thierry defied red carpet fashion with her uber-minimal (we don’t even think she wore makeup) Cannes look. She somehow managed to make #IWokeUpLikeThis look #RedCarpetReady with her messy top knot and bare skin.

9. Lily Donaldson

While this look is a bit too dark for our liking (it’s spring!), I can’t ever resist a good dark lip and what Lily Donaldson wore on the red carpet is a good dark lip. The look would have been perfect for fall or for an event that’s not on the French-Mediterranean shore in the outdoors with natural, bright light. Know what we’re sayin’?

10. Tanya Dyagileva

|

Artist Tanya Dyagileva brought the smolder, didn’t she? Where most actresses, aside from Eva Longoria, stuck to natural, no-makeup looks, Tanya said, “Eff it!” and went for a dark smokey eye, mauve lip and killer side braids. We love the drama this entire look, when pulled together, brings.

11. Aymeline Valade

French model Aymeline Valade channeled some serious Marlene Dietrich vibes in her androgynous, powerful Cannes Film Festival look. She kept her hair and makeup simple, but paired a dazzling women’s tuxedo with drop earrings. The contrast between the structure of the tuxedo and the femininity of the earrings is brilliant. This was one of our favorite looks of the festival.
