When the sun is out and the weather turns warm, a swipe of foundation SPF (sun protection factor) might seem like enough. It’s quick to apply and effortless to add to your beauty routine. However, protecting your skin needs more than a hint of suntan. To keep your skin smooth, strong, and healthy through every season, you need to understand how much coverage your makeup really provides. You also need to know where it falls short.

If your foundation has SPF, you might think you can skip sunscreen. The truth is that makeup with SPF helps, but it does not fully protect your skin from sun damage and skin aging. You actually need a separate sunscreen to fully protect yourself. Let’s break down why.

Why Foundation SPF Isn’t Enough: What You Need for Full Protection

Makeup with SPF can seem like an easy shortcut to sun protection, but it doesn’t cover everything your skin needs. Sunscreen and foundation each offer different strengths. Relying on one without the other leaves protection gaps you can’t afford to ignore. Before you count on your foundation alone, you need to know how each product protects your skin and how layering them creates full UV defense.

How Much Protection Does Foundation SPF Really Give?

Many foundations list SPF ratings of 15, 30, or even 50. While that sounds reassuring, makeup alone can’t deliver the coverage your skin needs. Dermatologists recommend about 1/4 teaspoon of sunscreen for full face protection far more than the thin layer of foundation most people apply.

Even if your foundation contains SPF, you’re likely only getting a fraction of the stated protection. Thin, uneven application leaves skin vulnerable to sunburn, hyperpigmentation, and wrinkles. Foundation also tends to apply unevenly and leave gaps where UV rays can still reach. Sunscreen, by contrast, covers your entire face evenly.

Some foundations protect against UVB rays, which cause burning, but offer little defense against UVA rays that penetrate deeper into the skin and trigger wrinkles and collagen loss. A broad-spectrum sunscreen shields against both types of UV damage. Plus, sunscreen requires reapplication every two hours while most people don’t refresh their foundation during the day. For easy touch-ups, sunscreen sprays or powders can glide over makeup without disturbing it.

Will Sunscreen Ruin Your Makeup?

Some people avoid sunscreen because they think it makes makeup look greasy or patchy. But the right formula can actually make your skin look smoother and healthier. For a matte finish, choose a gel-based or mattifying sunscreen. These formulas control shine and reduce excess oil, which helps makeup sit better on the skin. If you prefer a dewy glow, reach for a hydrating sunscreen with a natural finish.

Many sunscreens contain hyaluronic acid or niacinamide, both of which keeps skin plump and fresh throughout the day. For those with sensitive skin, mineral sunscreens made with zinc oxide or titanium dioxide offer gentle, non-irritating protection. These ingredients also have anti-inflammatory properties that help calm redness and swelling. Choosing the right sunscreen formula for your skin type can protect and also enhance your makeup’s look and longevity.

Why Tinted Sunscreens Outperform Foundation SPF

If you want full coverage and sun protection, tinted sunscreens work better than foundation with SPF. They contain UV filters that absorb or reflect harmful rays before they reach your skin. Some tinted SPFs also offer protection against blue light from screens, which contributes to oxidative stress and premature aging. Unlike heavy foundations, tinted sunscreens keep your skin fresh without clogging pores or settling into fine lines. They also create a natural-looking finish that looks great on its own or under makeup.

Additionally, you can easily reapply tinted sunscreens. They come as sticks, compacts, or powders that glide smoothly over your existing makeup without smudging. Tinted SPFs offer a simple way to stay protected without disrupting your makeup.

The Final Verdict: You Need Both Regular Sunscreen and Foundation SPF

Here’s the truth: you need both. Your foundation’s SPF offers minimal defense and should never replace a dedicated sunscreen. Apply sunscreen first, let it absorb fully, and then layer your foundation over it. This method ensures your skin gets the full protection against UV damage it needs to prevent photoaging. Your skin deserves protection that keeps it healthy and strong.

The choice is simple: will you trust a shortcut or will you give your skin the real defense it deserves?

FAQs About Foundation SPF vs Regular SPF

  1. Can I mix sunscreen with foundation?
Not recommended. It dilutes the SPF, making it less effective.
  2. What SPF is best for daily wear?
SPF 30 or higher. Broad-spectrum is a must.
  3. Will sunscreen make my foundation look cakey?
Not if you choose a lightweight formula and let it absorb before applying makeup.
  4. How often should I reapply sunscreen?
Every two hours, even if you’re indoors.
  5. What’s the best way to reapply SPF over makeup?
Use an SPF setting spray or powder sunscreen.
  6. Does SPF in powder makeup count? Barely. It’s great for touch-ups but not a primary sunscreen.
  7. Should I wear sunscreen at night?
No, SPF is only needed during sun exposure.
  8. Can I skip sunscreen if my moisturizer has SPF?
Only if you apply the right amount, but most people don’t. A separate SPF is better.
  9. Is chemical or mineral sunscreen better under makeup?
Both work, but mineral sunscreen is better for sensitive skin and mattifying.
  10. Will sunscreen cause breakouts?
    Non-comedogenic sunscreens won’t clog.

Best Primers for Humid Climates and Allergy-Prone Skin https://makeuptutorials.com/best-primers-sweat-humidity/ https://makeuptutorials.com/best-primers-sweat-humidity/#respond Mon, 21 Apr 2025 05:30:18 +0000 https://makeuptutorials.com/?p=66574

Best Primers for Humid Climates and Allergy-Prone Skin

Spring is finally here, which means warmer temperatures, blooming flowers, and unfortunately… sweat, humidity, and allergies. If your makeup starts melting by noon or disappears after a sneezing fit, you probably need a primer that locks everything in. The right one will keep your foundation fresh, your T-zone matte, and your skin smooth—no cakiness, no patchiness, and no frustration. Here are the best primers to survive spring without makeup meltdowns.

Best Primers That Combat Sweat, Humidity, and Allergies

Some primers clog your pores while others slide off by lunch. The ones here are different. These are the best primers for staying power even if your skin runs sensitive or the weather’s working against you.

1. Milk Makeup Hydro Grip Primer – The Dewy Lockdown

If your skin type is dry but you still want long-lasting wear, Milk Makeup primer is your holy grail. It consists of aloe water and hyaluronic acid both of which hydrate and grip onto makeup like glue. Hydro Grip’s texture might feel slightly tacky at first, but once your foundation sets, it stays put for up to 12 hours.

Best for: Dry or combo skin that needs hydration and staying power.

Why it works: The sticky finish acts like a magnet for makeup and prevents fading and flaking. Bonus: Gives a dewy glow without looking greasy.

2. e.l.f. Power Grip Primer – The Budget-Friendly Dupe

Love the idea of the Hydro Grip but hate the price tag? This drugstore gem does the same thing for way less. e.l.f. Power Grip has the same sticky, gel-like consistency and locks in makeup for a full day. Plus, it’s fragrance-free, so it won’t trigger spring allergy flare-ups.

Best for: Anyone wanting a strong-hold primer on a budget.

Why it works: Grippy texture keeps makeup in place, even through sweat and humidity.

Bonus: Works on all skin types, including sensitive skin.

3. Tatcha The Silk Canvas – The Pore Eraser

Spring heat can make pores look bigger, especially if you have oily skin. But no worries because this Tatcha balm-like primer can instantly create an airbrushed effect that blurs those pores. It also controls shine without making your face feel tight or dry. Plus, the Tatcha pore eraser has a soft, powdery finish that helps makeup glide so smoothly.

Best for: Oily or textured skin in need of a smooth base.

Why it works: Silky formula fills in pores and fine lines for a flawless look.

Bonus: Helps prevent breakouts by acting as a barrier between skin and makeup.

4. Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Mattifying Primer – The Oil Blocker

If your makeup breaks down by noon because of oil, this Fenty Beauty primer is a game-changer. It contains a lightweight and smooth texture that controls shine all day. Even in humid weather, Fenty Matt primer keeps skin matte without looking flat.

Best for: Oily and combination skin needing long-lasting shine control.

Why it works: Absorbs oil without making the foundation look dry or cakey.

Bonus: Works well with both liquid and powder foundations.

5. Too Faced Hangover Replenishing Primer – The Allergy Savior

Spring allergies can make skin dry, red, and irritated. Thankfully, Too Faced Hangover soothes and hydrates the skin with coconut water, probiotics, and vitamins. It may feel more like skincare than a traditional primer, but it still extends makeup wear considerably. If your skin gets flaky from antihistamines or pollen exposure, Too Faced helps keep you fresh-faced.

Best for: Dry, sensitive, or allergy-prone skin.

Why it works: Hydrates skin and calms redness and irritation.

Bonus: Smells like coconut and feels super refreshing.

6. Urban Decay All Nighter Face Primer – The Makeup Cement ⏳

For those who need extreme longevity, Urban Decay is The One. It grips makeup and prevents fading, creasing, or transferring. Even in humidity or long nights out, your foundation won’t budge. Additionally, Urban’s formula is lightweight and breathable, so it won’t feel thick or sticky.

Best for: Anyone needing bulletproof makeup wear.

Why it works: Keeps foundation fresh for up to 16 hours.

Bonus: Works on all skin types, even combo or textured skin.

How to Apply Primer for Maximum Wear

Even the best primer won’t work if you don’t apply it right. Here’s how to make sure you’re getting the most out of your chosen primer:

✅ Start with clean, moisturized skin – Primer works best on well-prepped skin. Apply your usual skincare, but let your skin fully absorb everything before priming.

✅ Use a pea-sized amount – Too much primer can cause pilling or make makeup slide. A little goes a long way.

✅ Apply with fingers – The warmth of your hands helps blend it seamlessly. Focus on areas where makeup fades first, like in the T-zone areas.

✅ Let it set – To ensure a better grip, give your primer 30–60 seconds to dry before applying foundation.

✅ Pair with the right foundation – Matte primers work best with matte foundations while hydrating primers complement dewy formulas. Proper matching prevents separation or patchiness.

Spring-Proof Your Glow

No more slipping, sliding, or sneezing your makeup off! The right primer will help keep your foundation stay put no matter what spring throws at you. Now get out there and enjoy the season, no mirror checks required!

Which primer do you swear by for warm weather? Drop your faves in the comments!

FAQs About Best Primers

Q: Do I really need a primer in spring?
A: Yes! It keeps makeup from sliding off in heat and humidity.

Q: Can I use a mattifying primer on dry skin?
A: You can, but it might make dry patches worse. Hydrating primers work better.

Q: How do I make my primer last longer?
A: Let it sit for 30 seconds before applying foundation. This helps it grip better.

Q: Can I use setting spray instead of primer?
A: Setting spray locks in makeup, but primer preps skin. Using both gives the best results.

Q: What are the best primers for acne-prone skin?
A: Tatcha Silk Canvas or Fenty Pro Filt’r—they blur pores and prevent breakouts.

Q: Will primer clog my pores?
A: Not if you choose a non-comedogenic formula. Always remove makeup properly at night.

Q: Should I use primer every day?
A: If you wear makeup daily, yes. It helps protect skin and extend makeup wear.

Q: Can I wear primer alone?
A: Absolutely! Some primers blur pores and even out skin tone on their own.

Q: What’s the best drugstore primer?
A: e.l.f. Power Grip—it’s affordable and works just like high-end options.

Q: Do primers expire?
A: Yes! Most last 12–18 months. Check the packaging for the expiration symbol.

Homemade Lip Scrubs That Work Better Than Pricey Lip Masks https://makeuptutorials.com/homemade-lip-scrubs-plump/ https://makeuptutorials.com/homemade-lip-scrubs-plump/#respond Mon, 14 Apr 2025 05:30:44 +0000 https://makeuptutorials.com/?p=66500 Homemade Lip Scrubs That Work Better Than Pricey Lip Masks

Dry, flaky lips can ruin even the best lipstick application. Thankfully, a good lip scrub can help remove dead skin, restore softness, and smoothen your lips. However, most store-bought lip scrubs are often pricey, including the ones with meh quality. But don’t worry because homemade lip scrubs are the answer. They’re affordable, easy to make, and free from unnecessary chemicals.

Using just a few ingredients, you can whip up a scrub in minutes. Plus, the natural oils in these recipes can provide lasting hydration, so your lips stay soft longer.

Why Exfoliating Your Lips Matters

Lips lack oil glands, so they’re more prone to dryness, especially in cold or windy weather. Without regular exfoliation, dead skin builds up and causes chapped lips.

Moreover, scrubs remove flaky skin and help moisture penetrate deeper into the lips. As a result, lips stay hydrated and look healthier. Exfoliation also increases blood circulation and gives lips a naturally fuller appearance.

Now that we’ve covered the “why,” let’s get to the DIY part. Get ready to whip up some homemade lip scrubs that’ll leave your pout feeling silky smooth. Let’s do this!

1. Classic Sugar Lip Scrub (The Go-To Formula)

Classic sugar lip scrub is a must-have for smooth, plump lips. It contains sugar that acts as a gentle exfoliant as well as honey and coconut oil that lock in moisture. Sugar lip scrub works for all skin types which makes it the perfect starting point for lip scrub newbies.

Ingredients:
  • 1 tsp sugar (brown or white)
  • ½ tsp honey
  • ½ tsp coconut oil (or olive oil)
How to Use:
  1. Combine all ingredients in a small bowl until blended.
  2. Gently massage onto lips using circular motions for about 30 seconds.
  3. Rinse with lukewarm water or wipe off with a damp cloth.
  4. Apply a nourishing lip balm for added hydration.

Brown sugar is softer than white sugar, so it’s better for sensitive lips.

2. Coffee & Honey Lip Scrub (For a Plumper Look)

Coffee & Honey Lip Scrub is a lightly textured exfoliator that smooths lips and enhances their natural glow. The coffee grounds remove flakes while the caffeine boosts circulation and makes lips appear plumper. Meanwhile, honey adds moisture and keeps lips soft and supple.

Ingredients:
  • 1 tsp coffee grounds
  • ½ tsp honey
  • ½ tsp almond oil (or jojoba oil)
How to Use:
  1. Stir ingredients together to form a thick paste.
  2. Apply to lips and gently scrub for about 20–30 seconds.
  3. Rinse with warm water and follow with a hydrating lip balm.

Using fresh, finely ground coffee gives the scrub a smoother texture. In contrast, coarser grounds may feel too harsh on the lips.

3. Minty Lip Scrub (For a Refreshing Feel)

Minty Lip Scrub offers a cooling treatment that gently buffs away the lips’ dryness. The peppermint oil in the scrub delivers a cool, tingly sensation. This ingredient also boosts blood flow and makes the lips look naturally rosy. Meanwhile, sugar and honey work together to exfoliate and soften the surface.

Ingredients:
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • ½ tsp honey
  • ½ tsp coconut oil
  • 1 drop peppermint essential oil
How to Use:
  1. Mix ingredients in a small bowl until combined.
  2. Apply to lips and gently massage for 30 seconds.
  3. Rinse with warm water and finish with a moisturizing lip balm.

Peppermint oil can be intense, so just use a single drop. However, if you have cracked or sensitive lips, it’s best to skip this recipe.

4. Oatmeal Lip Scrub (For Super Sensitive Lips)

Oatmeal Lip Scrub is a nourishing treatment that softens lips without irritation. Its gentle exfoliation makes it ideal for sensitive skin. This oat-based scrub also contains honey and almond oil, both of which hydrate and soothe delicate lips.

Ingredients:
  • 1 tsp finely ground oats
  • ½ tsp honey
  • ½ tsp almond oil
How to Use:
  1. Blend ingredients until smooth.
  2. Gently apply to lips and massage for 20 seconds.
  3. Rinse with lukewarm water and apply lip balm for extra moisture.

If not thoroughly blended, larger pieces may feel too rough on delicate lips. For a finer texture, use a food processor to grind the oats.

How Often Should You Exfoliate?

Exfoliating twice a week is enough to keep lips soft without causing irritation. Frequent scrubbing may strip away natural moisture and cause dryness. If lips feel sore or sensitive, take a break and focus on hydration instead.

After every scrubbing, apply a nourishing lip balm to help seal in moisture and avoid flaking. Additionally, use an SPF lip balm to protect lips from sun damage.

Best Post-Scrub Lip Care

You’ve scrubbed, you’ve buffed—now let’s lock in that softness! Here’s how to keep your pout in top shape:

Hydrate – Drink plenty of water to prevent dryness from the inside out.
Moisturize – Apply lip balm immediately after exfoliating to lock in hydration.
Protect – Use SPF lip balm to shield lips from sun exposure and prevent premature aging.

Pucker Up and Stay Smooth!

Why settle for cracked, dry lips when you can DIY your way to a smooth, luscious pout? These homemade lip scrubs are quick, budget-friendly, and oh-so-effective. The secret to soft lips isn’t in a pricey jar—it’s in your kitchen!

FAQs About Homemade Lip Scrubs
  1. Can I store homemade lip scrubs?
Yes! Store them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week.
  2. Is sugar too harsh for my lips?
Not at all! Use fine sugar and apply with gentle pressure.
  3. What’s the best oil for lip scrubs?
Coconut, olive, almond, and jojoba oils work well.
  4. Can I use a lip scrub daily?
No, 2–3 times a week is enough to prevent irritation.
  5. What if I have a nut allergy?
Use coconut or olive oil instead of almond oil.
  6. Can I replace sugar with salt?
Salt is too harsh, so sugar or oatmeal is a better choice.
  7. Do lip scrubs help lighten dark lips?
Yes! Regular exfoliation removes dead skin, helping lips look brighter.
  8. Can kids use lip scrubs?
Yes! Stick to gentle ingredients like honey and sugar.
  9. How do I make a lip scrub without oil?
Use aloe vera gel or mashed banana as a base.
  10. What if my lips feel irritated after scrubbing?
Stop exfoliating for a few days and apply a soothing balm.

Aging Hair Color Mistakes & How To Fix Them https://makeuptutorials.com/makeup-tutorials-aging-hair-color-mistakes-and-how-to-fix-them-2/ Mon, 31 Mar 2025 16:59:09 +0000 http://makeuptutorials.com/?p=1043 Hair color is one of the most effective anti-aging tools we have—except when it isn’t.

Take your dye job too far (or inky, or frosty) and you can add years to your appearance. Three top colorists weigh in on what to avoid.

Aging Hair Color Mistakes & How To Fix Them

|

STRAYING TOO FAR FROM YOUR NATURAL SHADE

The hair color you have is the one you’re meant to have: It complements your skin tone and doesn’t look artificial. When coloring your hair, you should aim to enhance and enrich your natural color and subtlyconceal grays—not do a total 180. “Color within reason. If you’re a dark brunette, don’t stray too far from rich tones. If you’re a warm blonde, keep to the golden hues that add depth. If you introduce a completely new color, your natural shade will fight it until it oxidizes and turns brassy orange. And that will make you look like an old woman overnight,” says Louis Licari, a colorist and owner of hair salons in New York City and Beverly Hills.

Colorist Negin Zand of Salon Benjamin in West Hollywood says another thing that can make hair color look stark and fake is a dark hairline. “The fine hair there grabs onto the color and tends to get dark faster. I always use a color that’s two shades lighter than the one I’m using for the back of the head at the hairline, from ear to ear. That keeps it from looking obviously dyed, and it’s much more natural and youthful,” she says.

Makeup Expiration Dates: How to Store & Keep Products Fresh https://makeuptutorials.com/makeup-expiration-dates-store/ https://makeuptutorials.com/makeup-expiration-dates-store/#respond Wed, 26 Mar 2025 05:30:10 +0000 https://makeuptutorials.com/?p=66418 Makeup Expiration Dates: How to Store & Keep Products Fresh

Let’s be honest—we all have that one lipstick we just can’t let go of. Maybe it’s the perfect shade, or maybe we just can’t bear to part with it. But here’s the thing: makeup doesn’t last forever. Yep, even that pricey foundation or your favorite mascara has an expiration date. So, how do you know when it’s time to toss your products? And how can you make them last longer? Let’s break down makeup expiration dates and how to store beauty products properly.

How Long Is Too Long? Understanding Makeup Expiration Dates

Makeup isn’t just about looking good; it’s also about safety. Over time, products collect bacteria, especially those used near the eyes and mouth. This can lead to skin irritation, breakouts, or even infections.

The ingredients in makeup can also break down. This changes the texture, color, and performance. Plus, old makeup just doesn’t blend or sit right on the skin.

Most products have a little symbol on the packaging—a jar icon with a number like “6M” or “12M.” This tells you how many months the product is good for after opening it.

Makeup Expiration Dates: A Product-by-Product Guide

Hanging onto old makeup? Doing so might be doing more harm than good. Here’s how to know when it’s time to let go:

1. Mascara & Liquid Eyeliner: 3-6 Months

Why? The wand goes in and out, which introduces air and bacteria. This can cause eye infections.
Signs it’s bad: Clumpy texture, strange smell.

2. Foundation & Concealer: 6-12 Months (Liquid), 12-18 Months (Powder)

Why? Liquids are prone to bacteria growth, especially if applied with fingers.
Signs it’s bad: Separation in consistency, change in color or texture or weird smell.

3. Lipstick & Lip Gloss: 12-18 Months (Lipstick), 6-12 Months (Gloss)

Why? Products used on the mouth are exposed to bacteria easily.
Signs it’s bad: Changes in texture and smell; feels dry and waxy.

4. Eyeshadow & Powder Products: 12-24 Months ✨

Why? Powders last longer because they don’t contain water. However, the brushes can introduce bacteria.
Signs it’s bad: Hard pan (shiny film), fading pigmentation, chalky texture.

5. Cream Blushes & Highlighters: 6-12 Months

Why? Cream products can grow bacteria faster than powders.
Signs it’s bad: rancid smell or visible mold (yes, it happens!).

6. Nail Polish: 1-2 Years

Why? Over time, nail polish thickens and separates.
Signs it’s bad: Thick, goopy texture that’s hard to apply smoothly.

How to Store Makeup for Maximum Shelf Life

Storing your makeup properly can help it last longer. Here’s how:

✅ Keep It Cool and Dry:

Humidity and heat speed up the breakdown of ingredients. To avoid quick deterioration, store makeup away from windows, radiators, and steamy bathrooms. A drawer or makeup organizer in a cool room is a great spot.

✅ Tightly Seal After Use:

Always close lids properly to prevent air from drying out the product or introducing bacteria.

✅ Clean Tools Regularly:

Brushes and sponges collect bacteria. Wash them weekly with gentle soap. Clean hands before applying makeup, too.

✅ Avoid Sharing Makeup:

Sharing makeup spreads bacteria, especially with products like mascara, eyeliner, and lipsticks.

✅ Don’t Add Water or Saliva to Revive Products:

Adding water or saliva to products introduces bacteria. If a product is drying out, it’s better to replace it.

Warning Signs Your Makeup Has Gone Bad

Sometimes, products go bad even before expiration, especially if not stored properly. Here’s what to look out for:

  • Odd Smell: If it smells sour, musty, or just “off,” toss it.
  • Texture Changes: Clumpy, thick, or separated products are no good.
  • Color Shift: If the color has darkened, faded, or changed, it’s time to go.
  • Skin Reactions: If you get redness, itchiness, or breakouts, stop using it.

The Science of Makeup Ingredients and Shelf Life

Ever wonder why some products last longer than others? It’s all about the ingredients.

1. Water-Based Products (Shorter Shelf Life)

Products like liquid foundations, mascaras, and creams contain water, which makes them more prone to bacteria growth. Bacteria love moisture, so these products expire faster.

2. Oil-Based Products (Moderate Shelf Life)

Lipsticks, cream blushes, and some liquid highlighters are often oil-based. Oils don’t grow bacteria as easily but can go rancid over time.

3. Powder-Based Products (Longer Shelf Life)

Powders, like eyeshadows and blushes, don’t contain water, so they last longer. However, oils from your skin or dirty brushes can contaminate them.

4. Natural and Organic Makeup (Shorter Shelf Life)

These products often lack strong preservatives, which means they can go bad faster—even if unopened. Always check their expiration dates carefully.

Understanding these differences helps you know which products to use up quickly and which ones can hang around a bit longer.

Quick Tips to Remember

  • Label Your Products: Use a marker to write the open date on the packaging.
  • First In, First Out: Use older products before newer ones.
  • When in Doubt, Toss It Out: If you’re unsure, it’s better to be safe.

✨ Ready for a Makeup Detox?

At the end of the day, makeup is replaceable—your skin isn’t. It’s time to declutter your beauty stash, refresh your routine, and ensure your makeup works for you, not against you. Check your makeup expiration dates, toss the old, and keep your skin glowing with fresh, safe products!

FAQs About Makeup Expiration Dates

  1. Can I still use makeup after it expires?
Technically, yes—but it’s risky. Expired makeup can cause skin issues or infections.
  2. Does unopened makeup expire?
Yes, though it lasts longer. Check for a shelf life symbol or expiration date on the packaging.
  3. How do I make mascara last longer?
Don’t pump the wand—it pushes in air. Instead, swirl it gently.
  4. Is it safe to keep makeup in the fridge?
For some products like eye creams, yes. But most makeup is fine at room temperature.
  5. Can expired makeup cause acne?
Yes. Old products can harbor bacteria that trigger breakouts.
