Sandal season is here, and you know what it means: it’s time to show off your toes! Instead of sticking to the usual pinks and reds, 2025 invites you to step into bolder territory. These trending pedicure shades below will help you create fun and flawless summer pedis!

2025’s Prettiest Pedicure Colors for Your Next Salon Appointment

Here’s a quick guide to the top pedicure colors to try this season. There are also a few helpful tips to perfect your application techniques.

1. Bright Coral

There’s nothing more energizing than wearing a bright coral pedi. This juicy shade captures summer’s vibe and brings a lively touch to any outfit. It’s a solid pick for anyone craving an upbeat and fresh color.

When applying bright coral, start with a base coat to prevent streaking, then build thin layers for an even coverage. Finish with a glossy top coat for lasting shine. Don’t forget that coral complements casual summer looks and adds just the right amount of kick.

2. Pistachio Green

Pistachio green is a soft, pastel-like color that’s trending in 2025. Its fresh yellow undertones make it easy to wear in both casual and polished settings. Pistachio provides a sense of calm and coolness as it balances the season’s brighter hues.

To apply pistachio, remember that pastel shades often require a little extra care. Start with a light first coat to avoid streaking, and let each layer dry completely before adding the next for smooth, even coverage. Pistachio green is a great color for those days when you want a lowkey yet stylish pop of color.

3. Butter Yellow

If you’re someone who loves yellow but isn’t quite ready to dive into super citrusy hues, butter yellow is your go-to shade. This soft, muted yellow exudes warm, sunny vibes without looking overpowering. Butter yellow is perfect for those who prefer a more subtle shade but still want to embrace the cheerful spirit of summer.

Since light yellows can be sheer, apply two coats for coverage. Let the first dry before brushing on the second to prevent smudging. A quick-dry top coat is also a must for a smooth, glossy finish. Butter yellow is perfect for garden parties or brunch sessions as it exudes a relaxed, warm feeling.

4. Bright Red

Red never goes out of style especially in the summer. This timeless pedicure color screams confidence and sophistication. Whether you prefer a fiery scarlet or a rich ruby shade, red is the go-to option for those who love a bold, chic look.

When applying red, use a steady hand and thin coats to avoid smudges. Red is one of those colors that can easily go wrong if you’re not careful, so take your time when applying each layer evenly. A fast-drying top coat will ensure the color stays smooth and glossy. Bright red is perfect for those summer nights out or any occasion where you want to highlight your pretty little toes.

5. Fuchsia

For those who want to go playful and eye-catching, fuchsia is the color of choice. This vivid, hot-pink shade pairs wonderfully with summer’s vibrant florals and colorful outfits.

When applying fuchsia, use a precise brush and apply it carefully to avoid streaks. This shade requires an even layer for full coverage, so only apply thin, even coats. For extra longevity, finish the pedicure with a top coat. Fuchsia is the kind of color that turns heads and works perfectly for any lively summer outing.

The Final Coat

Summer is the perfect time to have fun with your pedicure colors, and 2025 brings a fresh set of hues to experiment with. So, bookmark this post so the next time you’re at the nail salon, you’ll have these trending hues ready to inspire your pick. Your toes deserve it!

Makeup Tutorial | Fall 2014 Nail Polish https://makeuptutorials.com/makeup-tutorial-fall-2014-nail-polish-2/ Wed, 02 Apr 2025 07:41:08 +0000 http://makeuptutorials.com/?p=1068 Though we do not want summer to end (how did it go by so fast?),

part of us is looking forward to all those little things that come with fall: the crispness in the air, layering sweaters and wearing leather jackets again, and swapping out our bright summer clothes and makeup for a moodier color palette.

One of the best ways to accent this new fall look, is with a fresh manicure. Here, are our the polishes our editors swear by for autumn.

Fall 2014 Nail Polish

|

When it comes to choosing fall nail colors, ELLE.com editors are creatures of habit. One editor wears a skin-matching nude polish year round, adjusting the shade ever-so-slightly with the changing seasons: “It makes me feel clean and grown up.” Another is committed to vampy crimson because it reminds her of high school: “Lucky for me the ’90s are cool.” For me, after a summer of super bright gel nails, the freedom of polish that wipes off without a salon removal system feels fresh. Here, our favorite fall polishes to try.

Its time to toss out those boring nudes and dark burgundy shades and brighten up your lives and your nails with sunshiney yellows, greens and white. We have all the scoop on the perfect nail polish colors for summer ; check them out below!

What’s Your Summer Shade?

1.Ultra Violet- Butter London

Pantone color of the year for 2018 this stunning purplish shade is pretty much sold out on every website. However, you can get it on the company’s website if you purchase their face and nail kit which features ultra violet in a smaller size.

2. Mojito Madness- Essie

[instagram url=https://www.instagram.com/p/BvHrdekgV00/ hidecaption=true width=625]
You had me at ‘Mojito’!  Mojito madness is described as a fun loving lime green with a high, glossy shine finish. The brush provides a streak free application, and it has a 4.9 star rating on the company website— so I think this is a good one to grab for the summer.

3. Ecume- Nars

[instagram url=https://www.instagram.com/p/2ilpKfw5VA/ hidecaption=true width=625]

Don’t ask me to explain the name, but this beautiful shade of white is so perfect for summer I can hardly contain my excitement. This nail polish from Nars features a flexible, high-gloss finish for a freshly painted look that lasts.

4.Roguish Red- China Glaze

[instagram url=https://www.instagram.com/p/2lfQ8Kgwgn/ hidecaption=true width=625]

My motto has always been, ‘when in doubt go red’! The color works for every season and summer is no different, it really just depends on the shade. For summer, I prefer bright, shiney reds with a sort of orange undertone. This one from China Glaze is a perfect example.

5. Ocean Ever After-Nails inc

[instagram url=https://www.instagram.com/p/BkuTCLkheXL/ hidecaption=true width=625]

Bring out your inner mermaid with this self-made mermaid nail polish duo from Nails Inc. The set contains two fun shades; ‘mermaid parade’ is a soft baby blue color while ‘Ocean ever after’ is a sparkling sea blue. Both can work together or alone.

6. Fear or Desire- Essie

[instagram url=https://www.instagram.com/p/Bk7FtlOhdQo/ hidecaption=true width=625]

Step out of your comfort zone and try something new and fun this summer, who knows you might like it. This bright orange color is not for the faint of heart, you’ll get lots of attention, but it certainly screams summer doesn’t it?

7. Sun, Sea and Sand in My Pants- Opi

|

This gorgeous yellow nail polish from Opi is the quintessential color for the summer season. Perfect for so many different skin tones, your nails will be the envy of all your friends.

8. The Fuchsia is Bright-Essie

[instagram url=https://www.instagram.com/p/BlBNg2IBa_b/ hidecaption=true width=625]

Aside from the clever name (lol) it’s hard to imagine this stunning fuchsia color not looking good on every single skin tone. This is one of those vibrant magenta pink colors that tend to work no matter how light or how dark you might be. You and all your friends can wear the same color polish, and that’s pretty rare.

Easy Polka Dot Nails Tutorial At Home Using A Bobby Pin https://makeuptutorials.com/polka-dot-nails-tutorial/ https://makeuptutorials.com/polka-dot-nails-tutorial/#respond Thu, 21 May 2020 00:00:26 +0000 https://makeuptutorials.com/?p=59528 Polka dot nails are all the rage, but in this lockdown is there a way to get the look from the comfort (and safety!) of our own homes?

Luckily, there is one tool that will get us a pretty polka dot pattern with spot-on accuracy. It’s a fashion girl must-have that always mysteriously appears even in the most secluded areas in our homes — the bobby pin!

Stay home, save yourself the travel, and grab that bobby pin.

Check out How to Get Super Easy Polka Dot Nails With a Bobby Pin

What You’ll Need:

  • 2 different colors of nail polish (one for your base color, one for the polka dot details)
  • Bobby pin (in place of the dotting tool)
  • Cotton rounds

Step 1: On Clean Nails, Apply Your Favorite Base Color

Apply your favorite base color on clean nails. Beauties will know to apply a top coat first to protect your nails and to help your nail art stay on longer. Don’t let all your hard work go to waste, so make sure to keep a base and top coat handy always!

Choose black and white nails if you want to keep it classy. Opt for red nails if you’re inspired by the roaring ’50s. It’s best to choose colors that contrast each other for your polka dot nails designs to pop.

Step 2: Paint on Some Polish on the Tip of Your Bobby Pin

Paint the rounded end of your bobby pin with your second nail polish color. Wipe off the excess nail polish with the cotton rounds to ensure a clean application later on.

Make sure to paint the whole round end of the bobby pin evenly. Apply too much or too little, you might have trouble creating clean and consistent patterns later on.

Step 3: Dot on the Polish on Your Nails With the Bobby Pin

Finally, create your polka dot patterns using your homemade dotting tool!

Start off by applying with very light pressure if you feel that you are heavy-handed. It will be easier to adjust how much pressure you need to get your polka dots the right size as you go on. Try practicing on a piece of paper first if you’re worried about making a mistake.

Voila! As easy as 1, 2, 3!

Polka Dot Designs That Will Inspire Your Spring Nails

1. When the Rainbow Meets Elegance

|

Have fun with your nail art by maximizing the different design tools available to you! Add a dash of sophistication into your artwork by sticking on some jewels. Fuse different colors into your design on a clear base to really allow the colors of the rainbow to stand out.

2. A Chic Update to Your Beloved Pastels

|

Pastels have been dominating fashion’s color palettes for a long time now, so naturally a chic update is called for. Refresh your color palette by dotting on another color of the same hue, or by a metallic shade that matches the tone of your base color.

3. An Understated Take on Polka Dots

|

Mini polka dots are perfect for the ladies who want to enjoy polka dot nails, but at the same time need to maintain a more polished and elegant manicure. Mini polka dots are an understated design that will blend in with most of your outfits whether you’re wearing a corporate suit or a high fashion ensemble.

4. Get Inspired by Your Favorite 4-Legged Friends

|

You can easily incorporate the polka dot pattern into your nail art as a secondary design element. Polka dots in itself are already a fun pattern, but because of its simple design, it’s very versatile.

5. Gothic Nails

|

Due to the versatility of polka dots, even gothic girls can enjoy the quirky pattern. Create a vailed effect by painting your nails a brown shade slightly darker than your own. Finally, dot on black polka dots to capture the gothic vibe in your nail art.

6. Enjoy the Last Weeks of Spring With These Nails

[instagram url=https://www.instagram.com/p/B1eCPzKAG6q/ hidecaption=true width=800]

We’ve spent a good part of spring indoors because of the lockdown situation, so why not bring spring to your nails?

Paint on some floral patterns on your larger nails and finish off by designing the rest of your nails with spots. You’ll have accentuated your floral art by including a pattern that is simpler by contrast.

7. Go 90’s Geometric on Your Nails

[instagram url=https://www.instagram.com/p/CADtpibDHot/ hidecaption=true width=800]

The ’90s recently made a comeback in fashion, so it’s the perfect time to make 90’s inspired nail art. On the other hand, did we ever need a good reason to go geometric?

Paint half your nails with polka dots and the other half with stripes. Adding bold colors will bring focus to your print on print nail art. Stay at home and in vogue.

8. Layered Polka Dot Nails

[instagram url=https://www.instagram.com/p/B_-fGgbDeSx/ hidecaption=true width=800]

Layer the different colored spots one on top of the other, and with varying sizes and spacing. As you approach the tip of the nail, make sure the space between each spot grows farther and wider. In effect, you give it more dimension and a completely new take on polka dot nails.

Who knew there was so much you could do with a bobby pin? Because we’re all grounded by the lockdown, it’s time we get creative with tools we have at home.

Being holed up at home doesn’t mean we can’t get dolled up. Now that we see that there’s no need to rush to the nail salon to get our polka dot nails fix, make use of the time you have at home and level up your nail game!

Do you have your own take on polka dots? We’d love to hear about it! Share them in the comments section below.

You’ll definitely thank us after reading these useful nail hacks. Read on for more!

1. Remove nail polish stain with whitening toothpaste.

Nails look yellowish after removing nail polish and that tint just doesn’t look flattering. Good thing there’s a simple solution to that – whitening toothpaste! Check out a tutorial here on how to remedy yellow nails with whitening toothpaste.

2. Get rid of hangnails

3. Load up with vitamins that are good for your nails

Biotin, Iron, Zinc and B12 help strengthen the nails and clear and heal inflammation of cuticles.

4. Moisturize with hot oil manicure

Hot oil manicure is an excellent remedy for dry cuticles and brittle nails. No time to drop by the salon for hot oil manicure? No problem. Make one yourself! Instructions here.

5. Wear gloves

Especially if you’re exposing your nails to water or harsh chemicals for a significant amount of time. Wearing gloves will protect your nails.

6. Fix a broken nail with a teabag and nail glue

|

7. Take off your nail polish in less than 5 minutes using only 1 cotton ball

The ultimate technique that will save you both time and cotton balls. Get full instructions here.

8. Prevent nail polish from chipping with a top coat

To do this, just run the brush along the free edge of the nail. This will seal the raw edge of the nail polish and prevent it from chipping.

9. Clean up your manicure work with a brush dipped in polish remover

You can use s small paint brush, an eyeliner brush or even the felt tip of an old liquid liner that has dried up. Just dip it in polish remover and run it along the edges of your nails to erase manicure mistakes.

10. Get the perfect manicured nails by following this diagram

|

This is how professional nail technicians roll.

11. Apply multiple thin coats instead of a single thick coat

A thick coat of nail polish will only dry at the top layer, leaving your manicure vulnerable to smudges. Apply 2-3 layers of thin nail polish. Make sure to let each coat dry first before layering.

12. Use petroleum jelly or Vaseline to protect your skin from errant nail polish strokes

Just make sure you only apply it to your nails. Any ointment that gets on the nail will prevent the polish from sticking.

13. Use tin foil to remove gel manicure

Removing gel manicures can be a pain. Luckily, this tutorial will let you remove those stubborn nail polish without all the soaking and scraping.

14. Tin foils are also great for removing stubborn glitter polish

|

Remove stubborn glitter nail polish the same way you would remove gel nail manicure.

15. Soak nails in a solution of water and white vinegar before applying nail polish

Vinegar will remove any trace of oils or moisturizers left over from your polish remover. This will help your nail polish to adhere better.

16. Use VapoRub to treat nail infections

An ingredient of VapoRub, thymol, works on bacterial and yeast infections of the nail plate.

17. Use a white base coat to make neon colored manicures pop out

18. Glitter eye shadows make awesome glitter polish

And they look really matte which is awesome!

19. Don’t shake your nail polish, roll it

Roll your nail polish to avoid bubbles.

20. Wait extra long for your nails to dry if the air is humid

Humidity can do all sorts of nasty things to a manicure. Make sure you wait extra long for your manicure to dry out before doing anything.

21. Look for the B3F sign

B3F stands for “Free from Formaldehyde, DBP & Toluene,” a standard which many new nail polishes have adopted.  Formaldehyde is anti bacterial and acts as an anti dissolvant and improves adhesion. DBP or Dibutyl phthalate is used as a plasticizer which should keep surfaces smooth and unbreakable. Toluene is a substance that keeps your polish in liquid form. Each of these ingredients mentioned have certain dangers attached to them and it pays to be safe with your nail polish.

22. Don’t dry your nail polish with a fan

Yes, the fan may dry your nail polish faster. It will also cause bubbling and ruin your polish.

23. Dry your nail polish faster with ice cold water

Let them air dry for a couple minutes, then stick your hands in a bowl of ice water.

24. Dab glitter on your nails

Dab glitter on nails instead of swiping it. This will distribute the glitters evenly on your nails.

25. Make your own dotter using pins

Stick a pin nto a pencil eraser and voila, your own nail dotter!

26. Wear gloves before braving the cold weather

Cold temperatures can seriously dry and deteriorate your nails, so make sure to wear gloves when you go out on a cold weather.

27. Massage your cuticles

Massaging your cuticles will promote a healthier nail growth.

How to Do Water Marble Nails https://makeuptutorials.com/how-to-do-water-marble-nails/ https://makeuptutorials.com/how-to-do-water-marble-nails/#respond Thu, 28 Nov 2019 11:00:04 +0000 http://youresopretty.com/?p=409 Ever wonder how to get that lovely Water Marble Nail effect that you see in nail salons everywhere?

How to Do Water Marble Nails At Home | Step by Step Tutorial

With these 15 Steps you will be on your way to having the best at home manicure you’ve had in awhile. We promise it really is simple! If picking out a base coat is the hardest part of doing an at home manicure, we totally dig it! Summer is right around the corner and this super trendy manicure will have you begging for more. The colors you choose are completely up to you. From experience, try to select complimentary colors to really give your nails that POP.

Step 1. Choose a base color that is most suitable for your daily wear. We chose a soft pink (but it can really be any color). Nude or lighter tones work best to show off the design.

A woman holds her hands over paper towel after having her nails prepared for new nail polish in a beauty salon.

Step 2.) Once the base coat of your nail has dried, use tape to aid in the clean up process. This step will prevent you from getting any excess nail polish on your skin. It also helps from removing polish from your nails when you’re cleaning up.

Step 3). Select ALL of the colors that you want to use in your nail art experiment. We recommend using Essie or O.P.I. The nail polish should be new and not too thick! This will indefinitely mess up your nail art.
[instagram url=https://www.instagram.com/p/BzV4-oaFBoe/ hidecaption=true width=625]

Step 4.) Choose an old, unwanted bowl or cup. The marbling process will destroy the bowl. We recommend picking up some dollar store ceramic one’s for the project. If you have recycled Chinese takeout containers you can use those as well!

|

Step 5.) Fill cup or bowl with filtered water. The water temperature should be warm. Let it sit out for about an hour.

Step 6.) Choose a polish and take out the wand. Don’t try to remove the polish drop on the tip of the brush. Hold it over the bowl, and the drop will fall in, and quickly move across the water’s surface.

Step 7.) Repeat the steps as many times as you like using the colors of your choosing.

Step 8.) And again…

Step 9.) Using a toothpick, create a design in the water and swirl it around like so:

Note: **Make as many lines in the polish as you like. This will create a unique and decorative finish. For better results, use a different Q-tip to create each line.

Step 10.) When done, dip your nail into bowl wait a few seconds. It is important that you allow the outer nail polish to dry before removing. Make sure you take a toothpick to the excess nail polish in your cup or bowl while your nail is still submerged. When you remove your finger from the bowl, there should be no more excess polish.

Step 11.) The design should be completely adhered to the nail. If it has not, you probably took the nail out while the polish was still wet. Remember to wait a fair amount of time for best results. You will likely wind up with a bit of excess nail polish on your finger tips. Don’t fret too much about this. A pointed Q tip or a cotton ball will do the trick. Just take some nail polish remover and remove the excess polish from your hands.

Step 12.) Repeat steps for all the other nails in the same way.

Step 13.) Now, take your Q tip and make sure to clean all the polish around the tips of your nails and be sure not to remove any from your nail. Again, waiting a few moments will make all the difference in your end result.

Step 14.) Congrats -You’re ready for your top coat!

How To Do | Gradient Nail Art

Step 1.

Place tape, Vaseline or glue around the skin of your nails – this technique will help you lessen the smudge nail polish on the skin.

Step 2.

On the sponge paint the nail polish (from the lightest to the darkest shade) then blend the colors.

Step 3.

Dab the sponge lightly onto the nails then continue with a second layer. (Third layer is optional but you must let the polish dry down in between layers).
